Pros: The pictures do NOT do this spectacular piece of training equipment justice. I was worried that the head and neck looked flat and weak. Wrong! The leather/vinyl is very thick and tough, and the dummy is surprisingly sturdy enough to stand up and beat on. Despite the dummy's toughness, the stuffing is perfect for ground strikes. I love how the bag will slowly develop a shallow depression in the area I'm smashing away; it's incredibly helpful feedback! I'm training for my first amateur MMA fight, so ground strikes are limited to the body. I've been drilling transitions, sweeps, and takedowns to set up powerful strikes to the body on the ground that I can't do with my training partners. The neck is thick, and I love cranking chokes with different grips for an unreal workout to develop overwhelming squeezing power - go ahead and tuck your chin! This dummy is great for me because I can go gorilla crazy on this thing and be creative in a way that isn't possible with a training partner. Working with this dummy in your guard is a little odd at first because you have to hold it in place somewhat. I found elevating the legs 1.5-2 feet helpful for guard work. have found this to be an efficient means of building hip and leg strength that is difficult to develop without rolling. We mostly work technique in class, so I love this dummy to reinforce my training later and to finish up my conditioning.
In short, this simple tool is a beast maker. In long, this dummy is a diverse training supplement and conditioning tool. If you're a simple weightlifter like I was, this can unlock a level of strength and athleticism that you cannot understand until you have it.
Cons: I have had difficulty striking this dummy with a cheap everlast heavybag stand, but I imagine one would much more success hanging this from a ceiling.
